PASADENA, CALIF.–Supporters of the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) in the City of Pasadena announced on February 5, 2009 their endorsement for Ciran Hadjian’s bid to be elected to Pasadena’s City Council. Hadjian, who has a distinguished record of service in the city, is running in District 7 to replace a retiring councilman. Pasadena is home to a large, growing and prosperous Armenian American community.
"We are proud to endorse Ciran," remarked Manuel Marselian, a leader of Pasadena’s Armenian American community. "She has the talent, energy and ideas to make our city better. Her background as a planner, her experience as a mother and her dedication to enhancing our quality of life in Pasadena make us very confident in strongly backing her candidacy," he added.
"I am proud and honored to have the enthusiastic support of the Armenian National Committee," remarked Hadjian after securing the ANCA endorsement. "It is a tremendous validation of my campaign. I know that by working together we can all win on March 10th," she added.
Ciran Hadjian was born and raised in the City of Pasadena. Hadjian has a long and distinguished career as an active and engaged Pasadena resident. She has served as a member of the City of Pasadena Planning Commission (the appointee of three mayors) and Chairperson of the Board of Zoning Appeals. As a Community Builder for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles, Ciran’spearheaded an unprecedented community building and rehabilitation initiative that coordinated over 1,800 rehabilitation projects in 150 cities.
Ciran’secured her Bachelor of Arts degree in geography from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). She earned a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
