Celebrated Armenian cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan performed alongside Maestro Tito Muñoz and the Pasadena Symphony on Saturday, January 22, playing Dvořák’s Cello Concerto in b minor.
The romantic memorial to Dvořák’s long lost love is profoundly affecting and is arguably one of the most beautiful cello concertos ever written.
Born in Yerevan, Armenia into a family of musicians, Narek Hakhnazaryan has performed all over the world and won a host of prestigious prizes including Fifth Prize at the 2007 Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow, First Prize in the 2006 Aram Khachaturian International Competition in Armenia, and First Place in the 2006 Johansen International Competition for Young String Players. His cello is a Jean Baptiste Vuillaume, circa 1860 and is on loan to him from the Ravinia Festival.
