YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Within the framework of the November 23 telethon in Los-Angeles to be held to raise money for the construction of the strategically important highway "North-South" in Nagorno-Karabakh–and restoration of the earthquake zone in Armenia–a phonothon took place in France from November 10 to 12.
The representatives of the Armenian Diaspora of France participated in the phonothon. According to the Bureau of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Public-Political Information in France–30 volunteers telephoned 45,000 French Armenia’s with the request to make donations for the construction of the highway in Nagorno-Karabakh and four schools in the town of Gyumri–Armenia.
Director of the French Department of the All-Armenian Hayastan Fund Petros Terzian forecasted that the French Armenia’s’ donations would amount to approximately 1,500,000 Fran’s. The peculiarity of the November 23 telethon in Los Angeles is the possibility of RA and Karabakh citizens–as well as Armenian communities in Europe and CIS countries to participate in the event. It’s worth reminding that–in connection with the forthcoming festive events dedicated to the 1700th anniversary of the adoption of Christianity as a state religion in Armenia–a 5-kilometer section to the ancient Karabakh Cloister Gandzasar will be added to the initially planned 169-kilometer highway.
