Pilibos and Chamlian students together at Pilibos' Nerses Tashjian Gymnasium

LITTLE ARMENIA—On Wednesday March 5, the Rose and Alex Pilibos School campus was bustling with anticipation as 7th and 8th grade Pilibos students awaited the arrival of 7th and 8th grade Chamlian students. As tradition has it sister schools Rose and Alex Pilibos and Vahan and Anush Chamlian School visit each other throughout the year to further solidify their bond with each other.

As the Chamlian students and teachers arrived and settled into the Nerses Tashjian Gymnasium, Rose and Alex Pilibos School’s principal, Dr. Alina Dorian welcomed the Chamlian students and teachers, not as guests of Pilibos, but as true family members, individuals that belong to Pilibos’ large and ever growing family. She urged the Chamlian students to truly feel at home and enjoy the rest of the day.

The day proceeded as a group of Pilibos seniors organized and ran games and activities for all the students. They selected 20 Pilibos students and 20 Chamlian students and paired them together to complete an obstacle course. All students cheered for their classmates as each Pilibos/Chamlian duo aimed to beat the record for completion of the course! In the end, two teams came out on top, both a boys and girls team.

After the obstacle course competition, students gathered in the quad for snacks and some social interaction as they continued to get to know each other. The day concluded with a quiz bowl of general knowledge with four groups of combined Pilibos and Chamlian students. Students in the audience cheered on their classmates until finally a group won after a tie breaker question.

The day was organized to allow both Pilibos and Chamlian 7th and 8th graders to get to know each other better, strengthen their connections, and to just have fun. When a group of Chamlian students were asked how they enjoyed their day, their overall response was that they had so much more fun and interaction than they had anticipated. The Pilibos Administration, teachers, 7th and 8th graders, and the group of seniors who led the day’s activities all thank Chamlian for visiting Pilibos and making it a memorable day!
