BAKU (Noyan Tapan)–"The route of the Baku-Ceyhan pipeline will never be changed," the First Vice President of Azerbaijan State Oil Company Ilham Aliyev announced Thursday during his briefing to MPA news agency.
The announcement came following a letter sent by Republican Congressman Joseph Crowly on behalf of his 36 colleagues to President George W. Bush–where they urge that the Baku-Ceyhan pipeline to pass through Armenia. According to Aliyev–$250 million has been already spent and the main construction will begin within a year.
Aliyev said that those Congressmen are enemies of Azerbaijan and Turkey. He added that the Congressmen’s "spread of propaganda" against those countries is sufficient proof for his claim. Aliyev expressed regret–that some Azeri politicians met with Congressmen Smith and Pallone.
