YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Hrant Khachatrian described the establishment of the Presidential Political Council as an achievement of political forces and the display of broad-thinking and free-thinking of the president of Armenia.
"The need for leaders of influential forces to sit down at a table has been felt for a long time in Armenia," said the executive secretary of the Political Council and chairman of the "Constitutional Right" Union Hrant Khachatrian.
According to him–the Council can discuss any issue pertaining to spheres of the domestic and external life of Armenia without any restriction. This is ensured by the presidential decree on the establishment of the Political Council which imposes no restrictions on discussed issues. Parties included in the Political Council have the right to examine any issue–analyze and draw up the results of their studies–collaborate and summarize proposals coming from citizens and public organizations and submit them to the president as consultations and guarantees.
"Guarantees and proposals approved by the Political Council–especially those approved unanimously–can be very influential and difficult to reject," said the executive secretary of the Political Council.
