Armenia's new prime minister, Hovik Abrahamian

YEREVAN (Arka)—Former chief of government staff Vache Gabrielian has been appointed as chief adviser to Armenia’s prime minister, says the prime minister’s press office. Gabrielian took office on April 18, while David Harutiunian was appointed to succeed him in his former post.

Minister of Emergencies Armen Yeritsian, Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanian, and Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian were reappointed to stay in office after former Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan resigned and was replaced by Hovik Abrahamian.

On Tuesday, Armenia’s President Serzh Sarkisian also reappointed Minister of Transport Gagik Beglarian and Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosian, and appointed Karen Chshmaritian as the new Minister of Economy.

On April 13, President Sarkisian appointed Hovik Abrahamian as Prime Minister to replace Tigran Sargsyan, who resigned on April 3. Under the constitution, a new cabinet is required to be formed within twenty days of a new prime minister’s appointment.
