YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Italian Ambassador to Armenia Jancarlo Aragona presented his credentials to Armenian President Robert Kocharian July 6.
The ambassador assured the Armenian president of his country’s willingness to expand the bilateral cooperation. According to him–"Italy supports Armenia’s full involvement in the activities of the European Union and the Council of Europe and is ready to give all its assistance".
President Kocharian pointed out that he attaches great importance to the development of relations with European countries and to the integration into the European structures. According to him–Armenia–which is a country located in a region where interests of different countries clash–was able to find its place in the region and become the most stable country in the region.
The president stated that Armenia is interested in the model of economic development chosen by Italy. The sides stated that a great potential exists for the development of cooperation between the two countries and pointed out the importance of quickly forming the necessary legal framework. President Kocharian stated that he was pleased that many Italian companies were establishing their businesses and factories in Armenia.
