YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–"No resignation of the foreign minister or any other resignations are expected," presidential spokesman Vahe Gabrielian told a press briefing Wednesday. He emphasized the teamwork of the government as a single body. The government and the president hold the same opinions–and the government–in turn–enjoys the vote of confidence of the parliamentary majority–Gabrielian continued.
Declining to comment on a series of official resignations in Azerbaijan–Gabrielian said he did not see any connection between these resignations and the visit of US Undersecretary of State Strobe Talbott to the region. Usually–such visits are not undertaken spontaneously but are planned in advance.
The presidential spokesman denied the allegations by the Azeri press that the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan had come to an agreement regarding the status of Karabakh within Azerbaijan and a surrender of Kelbajar.
