YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The February 25 enlarged meeting of the Prosecutor’s Office Board discussed the results of the work in 1999 and the tasks the system still has to encompass. President Robert Kocharian and Prime Minister Aram Sargsyan also attended the meeting.
Deputy Prosecutors General Zhirayr Kharatian–Aghvan Hovsepian–Armen Khachatrian–Military Prosecutor–Deputy Prosecutor General Gagik Jhangirian and Head of the Investigations Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office Andranik Mirzoyan made analytical reports on the work of the Prosecutor’s Office in 1999.
In addition to stressing the importance of the previous stage of work in controlling crime–enforcing the law and defending the interests and rights of the state and its citizens– Kocharian also spoke of the omissions in the activities of the Prosecutor’s Office.
In his speech Kocharian underlined that the adjustment of the Prosecutor’s Office’s work in accordance with present-day issues of public concern will be conducive to building a law-abiding state.
