Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu called U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Dec. 17 to urge officials to block the House of Representatives vote on the Armenian Genocide Resolution, saying doing otherwise would jeopardize U.S.-Turkish ties. According to Turkish sources, Clinton said her administration had not changed its position on the matter and that “she would exert all possible effort.”
Davutoglu told journalists, “I asked for an effective interference at Congress because this issue may carry the possibility of influencing the future and nature of Turkish-U.S. relations. Everybody should act with responsibility on this issue. Bringing historical issues to the agenda over and over, and swinging those issues over the head of Turkish-U.S. relations like the sword of Damocles, is not appropriate.”
Similarly, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent a letter to President Barack Obama asking him to prevent the vote by the House.
On December 17, State Department spokesman Philip J. Crowley said the Obama Administration strongly opposes the resolution. “We are aware of a potential House Resolution 252, and we strongly oppose that resolution. We continue to believe that the best way for Turkey and Armenia to address their shared past is through their efforts to normalize relations.”
Both the Turkish Embassy and Turkish diaspora groups have launched a campaign to block the passage of the resolution by contacting senior U.S. officials and Congressmen.
Turkey has long threatened that its ties with the U.S. would suffer if a resolution were passed. In March, Turkey recalled its ambassador after the House Foreign Affairs Committee voted in favor of it. Turkey has continued to deny that its policies of deportation and mass murder of the Armenians amounted to genocide.

I wonder why the Armenian president and the foreign minister are not as active as their Turkish counterparts, is it because they feel “the truth is with us” and it will somehow prevail by itself, without any effort? Why such bloody laziness by these incompetent “politicians” in Yerevan.
Thats a VERY good question !!!
You are right Zareh. I don’t know why they are acting this way. I hope they get on their high horse and start taking action like Armenians in Diapsora act patriotically and dilligently for our just cause. The Armenian Genocide is the cause for every Armenian alive. We as Armenians were all attacked in the most bloodiest and in the most dehuman way ever.
Zareh shat jishtes asum this is not a only Diaspora effort this is a world wide effort, during telethon they are active
but now i dont see them just like you said to be active very good question to be adressed next time they the Armenian leader ship flys to Los ANgeles to to be part of the telethon.
Zareh: or maybe they are busy with more important issues like poverty, corruption, inflation etc. Most of Armenia is under poverty, and when people are hungry they dont care about anything else. Of course, AR officials care more about immidiate needs of armenian citizens than wishes of our diaspora.
Or how about that youtube video where US vice-president tells that it was Serj Sargsyan who called and asked that Obama does not use Genocide word because of papers signed with Turkey.
Zareh hit right on the nose, when he says where is our Armenian Government not getting involved in pushing Washington to recognize this long overdue Armenian Genocide. Pres. Sarkissian should be calling Pres. Obama on this serious issue. If this Genocide is not recognized, then our organizations must make changes in the we do things. One is to stop the five Jewish Organizations to stop supporting the Turks, otherwise Armenians must consider Jews as Anti-Armenian & Anti-Christian. Israel is yet to recognize our Genocide. Shame on them and the Ambassador from Israel in Armenia should have been removed when she also refused to recognize the Armenian Genocide.
The moste irritating part is that the TURKISH prim minister is calling Obama lite the entire time and telling him to not do this while the Armenian president (as you said) is just sitting there and doing nothing but stealing money from people.
