YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–A draft resolution on the future of the Karabakh conflict resolution process was introduced Tuesday in the Armenian Parliament, in the wake of Azerbaijan’s recent efforts to shift the conflict from the OSCE Minsk Group to other international forums.
The resolution calls on the President and the government to activate and expand the process of informing the international community on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and its resolution processes. The bill further instructs the government to provide a comprehensive assessment of the conflict so in the event of Azerbaijan’s violations and acts of aggression Armenia would be able to ensure its national security.
Furthermore, the resolution calls for the complete guarantee of the Karabakh people’s right to self-determination and the unconditional use of that principle in the negotiation process.
The draft, introduced by Parliament Speaker Tigran Torosyan will be on the legislative calendar for the next four days.
