GLENDALE—March 10 marks the 70th anniversary of the Ararat Armenian Cultural Association, founded in Tehran, Iran, in 1944. To appropriately recognize and celebrate the accomplishments and legacy of this cultural, athletic, scouting, and community organization, the central board of the Association has appointed and approved a US executive committee comprised of experienced veteran and alumni Ararat members.
The mission for the festival event is to engage all past and present Ararat members, particularly those residing in the US; to compile information about alumni and veterans and encourage them to stay in touch with the Association; to set up subcommittees to plan, organize and execute celebration activities in various areas like performing arts, scouting reunion, athletic competitions and community gatherings; to archive a detailed history of the Ararat Armenian Cultural Association through interviews, digital albums and testimonials; and to introduce the Ararat Armenian Cultural Association to the Armenian American community in Los Angles.
The kickoff party and gathering is slated for Sunday, March 16, 10:30 am at the Homenetmen Glendale Ararat campus where the executive committee will unveil their plans and events and sub committees for the 70th anniversary celebrations.
