MOSCOW (Itar-Tass)–The appointment of the new Armenian prime minister and the election of the parliament speaker are "an important step toward the normalization of the situation after the tragic events in the country on October 27," Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Vladimir Rakhmanin said.
Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday–Rakhmanin said that after Armenian leaders and people made their choice–"we can state that the terrorists failed to destabilize the situation in this important Transcaucasian state."
Armenian political forces demonstrated unity and their drive for confirming the country’s domestic and foreign policy–the Russian diplomat said.
"Russia–together with Armenia–is ready for further development of close interaction between our two countries and people in compliance with the treaty of friendship–cooperation and mutual assistance," the spokesman’said.
