MOSCOW (Itar-Tass)"The appointment of Robert Kocharian as the Prime Minister of Armenia is exclusively an internal affair of a sovereign state," a Russian Foreign Ministry official said to Itar-Tass.
The source continued to explain–"The appointment of Robert Kocharian as prime minister of Armenia has evoked a wide range of reactions both inside and outside the region–particularly in Azerbaijan."
The reaction in the region to the new appointment has been mixed and some are concerned about Kocharian’s well-known approach to resolving the Karabakh issue and the effects this will have on Armenia’s flexible position–according to the official.
"Only time will tell," the Russian diplomat said. "if Kocharian’s appointment influences the development of Russian-Armenian relations in a favorable way and resolves the Karabakh conflict–we will welcome him with open arms."
