MOSCOW (Noyan Tapan)–Chairman of the Russian State Duma Gennady Seleznev met Wednesday with his Armenian counterpart Armen Khachatrian.
Seleznev thanked Khachatrian for visiting State Duma and said that currently a prototype of future policy which is to be based on two-polar forces: "left" and centrist patriotic forces is being formed.
Seleznev briefed Khachatrian on the situation in Chechnya. According to Seleznev the most important thing is that "the fifth column don’t raise its head and attach the rear." Speaking of possible outcomes of the early presidential elections in Russia–Seleznev stressed that none possesses such potential as Acting President Vladimir Putin. According to the Russian State Duma Speaker–the most important task of the present day is to help the economy out of the crisis–as well as to coordinate energy tariffs–increase pensions–pay subsidies to spending organizations.
On behalf of the Armenian people Armen Khachatrian thanked Seleznev for support. "The current situation in Armenia is normal and it is under full control. All branches of power are trying to work jointly and in harmony. The Armenian parliament is preparing to adopt a budget. Of course–there are problems in the economy–but the country retained the consistency in foreign and domestic policies," Khachatrian said.
At the end of the meeting Chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia invited Gennady Seleznev to visit Armenia.
