YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The Moskovsky Komsomolets daily published parts of a press conference held by Azerbaijani Ambassador to Moscow Ramiz Rizaev–who mentioned Pavel Grachev and Mikhail Kolesnikov–as well as commanders of the Russian military units in the Transcaucasus Fedor Reut among the main causes of "illegal arms supply to Armenia."
During a recent meeting–Russian Prime Minister Victor Chernomyrdin assured Gaidar Aliyev that Russian law enforcement agencies will complete their probe into the arms question before the next CIS summit.
Sources close to the Russian presidential office reported that Boris Yeltsin–having received a third letter from the Azeri president–instructed the relevant bodies to speed up the investigation.
The Segodnya published a lengthy article entitled "Baku Starting to Dictate Its Terms to Moscow" Saturday. The article mainly covered the problem of Rokhlin’s report made at a closed session appearing in the press. The article maintains that Baku–not waiting for the end of the investigation–categorically deman’s to punish all those presumed guilty.
The article blasts Rokhlin as being one of those generals who–being incapable of doing anything in the army–is trying to show himself in politics.
