YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The Engineering Academy of Armenia has submitted more proposals to the Armenian government on how to develop priority economic trends. These include a Molybdenum project dealing with the extraction and processing of trace rare metals from mines in Kajaran–and a project dealing with the development of industrial chemistry and biotechnology.
Earlier–projects on "housing construction strategies for 2000 and subsequent years" and "transportation of crude oil to Armenia from Russia via the available gas pipeline" had also been submitted to the government. In a Noyan Tapan interview–Yuri Khojamirian–the President of the Engineering Academy of Armenia–announced the Academy’s readiness to draw up a comprehensive feasibility report on each of the indicated counts.
Crude oil transportation was discussed with Russian specialists within the framework of the 8th congress of the International Fuel & Energy Association in Moscow.
It should be mentioned that the IFEA embraces chief managers of a number of energy corporations of Russia–including Gazprom Board Chairman Rem Vyakhirev–Victor Chernomyrdin–President of Lukoil Vagit Alekperov–Orenburggazprom Director General Vasiliy Nikolayev–President of Ukraine’s National Academy of Sciences Boris Paton–chiefs of large banks and heads of scientific-research units and other high-ranking officials.
