YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The Sakharov Human Rights Fund announced Thursday that it was accepting complaints from citizens whose lives were affected by Vano Siradeghian while he served as Armenia’s minister of interior–Yerevan mayor and forestry department chief.
A committee was formed to study and summarize the complaints and submit them to the authorities.
In its announcement–the committee outlined the following aspects: *Abuse of authority *Intimidation of citizens; ordering the kidnapping and assassination of individuals; forming clandestine structures–involving subordinates in high crimes; *Victimization of political opponents; *Trumped up criminal cases against individual citizens through planting arms and drugs; unfounded imprisonment; torture; *Persecution against businesses; illegal taxation and extortion of money; *Seizure of personal property by means of illegal confiscation;
The fund also announced the establishment of a bank account to which individuals may transfer money to help victims–organize searches for missing persons and to administer justice. The donations will be used exclusively for legal services. The Fund also urged financial assistance from international legal institutions.
