YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–At a regular meeting on June 8–the Central Electoral Commission–based on the decision of the Yerevan Regional Commission–registered Alexan Hakobian (non-partisan–member of the Assembly’s standing commission for defense–national security and internal affairs–54th in the Unity slate) as deputy of the National Assembly from Yerevan’s electoral district 20. Thus–129 deputies elected under the majoritarian and proportional system of voting have been registered.
The polls in Yerevan’s electoral district 15 and Lori’s electoral district 53 were declared void. The CEC decided to schedule new polls in electoral district 53 for June 20. A lawsuit was lodged with the Constitutional Court over the polls in electoral district 15–and the CEC decided to postpone the discussion of the issue on appointing new polls in the district until the Constitutional Court passes a verdict.
The CEC introduced changes in the proportional slate of the Unity bloc and the Orinats Yerkir (Country of Law) party–based on the applications of the candidates included on the slates.
Applications for quitting the Unity slate were submitted by Vazgen Sargsyan (defense minister–chairman of the "Yerkrapah" Union of Volunteers); Karen Adonts (head of the economic analysis center of the Institute of Economic Research of the Ministry of Finance and Economy–member of the Board of the Republican Party of Armenia); Ararat Malkhasian (director of the Paren state-run CJSC of the Ministry of Agriculture–member of the RPA Board); Konstantin Karagyozian (Director of the Institute of Molecular Biology of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia–RPA)–and Vilen Manoukian (department head at the Nork-Marash surgical center–RPA). Instead–the CEC registered as deputies Gurgen Yeghiazarian (lawyer)–Vardan Khachatrian (chief of the finance–budgetary and planning department of the Ministry of Defense–deputy of the 1995-1999 NA–non-partisan)–Armen Hakobian (Armenian Airlines–member of the Board of the People’s Party of Armenia)–Vanya Hovhannissian (director of the subsidiary enterprise of the Hayshinanyut trade base–member of the PPA Board).
Gagik Mkheyan applied for quitting Orinats Yerkir’s party list. The mandate will go to next-in-line Gegham Gasparian (chief of the regional affiliate of the Sevan state-run insurance company).
