YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–A seminar on issues regarding the new election code organized by the International Institute for Democracy and sponsored by the TACIS Program–commended in Yerevan on Thursday and will run until Saturday. The seminar is intended to strengthen the legal underpinnings of Armenia’s electoral system by drawing on the experience of other nations.
Those attending the seminar will discuss problems of organization of the pre-election stage–the formation and powers of electoral committees–as well as election returns and supervision.
Among international experts invited to the seminar are IID research advisor Florence Benois-Romer and OSCE expert Simon Osborne.
