United States Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is scheduled to arrive in Armenia today. On an international mission–the Senator will also visit Georgia and Azerbaijan. In Yerevan–he will meet with Levon Ter-Petrosyan and Prime Minister Robert Kocharyan–as well as Foreign Minister Alexander Arzoumanian.
McConnell will also meet with Armenian officials and media representatives–and visit USAID funded project sites. The Senator will observe and evaluate Armenian foreign relations–foreign investmen’s–trade relations–and other issues concerning both the US and Armenia.
Senator McConnell is the Chairperson of the Senate Appropriations Committee SubCommittee on Foreign Operations. He is also a member of the Senate Ethics Committee–Committee on Agriculture–and Environment among others.
Accompanying the Senator on his trip to Armenia are his wife Elaine Char–former Peace Corps Director–and Senate Defense Committee Staff Member Robin Cleveland.
