PALM SPRINGS, CA—Writer and Director Alex Webb will screen the world premier of his latest film, “Hove” (The Wind), at this year’s prestigious Palm Springs Short Film Festival at Camelot Theatres, 2300 E Baristo Road, Palm Springs at 8 p.m. on June 27.
Starring Oscar-winning actress Olympia Dukakis as Zara and Armenian-American actress Shirleyann Kaladjian as Nina, this short film portrays the story of two Armenian women and how their relationship is deeply affected by a chance encounter with the past and the powerful, unresolved legacy of the Armenian Genocide.
“Hove (The Wind) doesn’t ask for sympathy,” says Dukakis. “What it does do is give you the opportunity to feel deeply what the Genocide means in these people’s lives—in all our lives!”
Milton Kam served as Director of Photography. He is best known for his Spirit Award nominated cinematography on Vanaja which won the Silver Bear at Berlinale. He has also won the Kodak Vision Award for the Creative Use of Cinematography.
Webb’s previous work has screened at The Houston International Film Festival, Clermont-Ferrand, and has won him a Panavision New Filmmaker Award.
