YEREVAN (Armen Press)–The situation in Javakhk is stable–however–local and governmental forces are keeping close watch on the region. There are no details or clear conclusions about the explosion that took place in the region–however–an investigation is underway. Democratic Party Advisor–Aram Sargssian–stated–that helpful cooperation is necessary at this time between both Armenia and Georgia. Also–when discussing Armenia’s priorities–Sargssian stated that what is most important now is to see our countrymen return safely to their homes.
The one question remains as to why Georgian officials claim that the group which confronted the Georgian troops was armed. All other sources insist that armed guards were not involved in the affair. It is also important to state that Armenia’s government is paying very close attention to the affairs that are unwinding and is trying its best to stay away from any brand of instigation. It is understood that Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian will address this issue closely during his meeting with Georgian officials during August 19-29.
