YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The National Press Club invited Khachatur Sukiassian–Director of Sil–to a meeting with journalists. Sukiassian–owner of the Kotayk beer factory in Abovian–the Yerevan furniture factory–the Bjni mineral water and Parakar wine factories–and the Sevan flour-mill–recently opened the Sil Plaza. With an overwhelming majority of Hayeconombank shares–Sukiassian is one of the most successful businessmen of Armenia.
According to Sukiassian–his family has provided the republic with several thousands of job opportunities in the spheres of production–services and trade–with no salary lower than $50. He said that all the organizations regularly perform their tax liabilities and have no problems with the budget.
Speaking on fiscal policy–he said that changes are being introduced and will be introduced in the future–because hard policy may have negative consequences. Great importance should be given to the investment policy and creation of favorable conditions for investmen’s–Sukiassian said. He did not share the opinion that policy dictates the activities of businesses.
According to him–a realistic approach to problems was the pledge of their success and not the political patronage–which is very often associated with the name of Vano Siradeghian–former Yerevan Mayor–Chairman of the Board of the Armenian National Movement.
The Sukiassians have also submitted proposals to the authorities–namely suggestions on the protection of local producers. Sukiassian felt that the existing potential should be analyzed in depth in order to succeed in the economic policy. Only after thorough analysis–the infrastructures should be re-established and appropriate programs implemented–he suggested. According to him–the development of microelectronics–radio-electronics and other similar branches may become of strategic importance for Armenia.
