YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Prime Minister Armen Darbinian Wednesday met with the Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Muhammad al-Imad and Minister for State Purchases and Home Trade Nadim Akali–who arrived in Armenia to attend meetings of the joint intergovernmental commission.
Armenian-Syrian cooperation envisions joint activities in the realms of construction–manufacturing–food processing and trade.
Syrian businessmen are implementing large-scale investment programs and the goal of the commission is to coordinate cooperation between the two countries’ branch ministries to make the best use of the existing potentials.
Syria has expressed interest in the export of its products to CIS markets.
Darbinian expressed willingness to assist in those programs.
The concept of regarding Armenia as a cross roads to CIS countries meets the interests of all participating countries and Armenia has enough business potential to effectively implement these programs.
