President Bashar al-Assad of Syria awarded the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Syria, Dikran Kevorkian, with the Syrian Order of Merit, Excellence Class, in appreciation of his efforts in developing Syrian-Armenian relations.
Foreign and Expatriates Minister Bassam Sabbagh awarded the Ambassador the Order of Merit.
In his speech during the ceremony, Minister Sabagh emphasized the historic friendship that unites the two countries, praising the efforts made by Ambassador Kevorkian during his tenure to strengthen relations between Syria and Armenia.
The Minister noted his appreciation for the stance Armenia has taken in support of Syria, especially the humanitarian support given by the Armenian government after the earthquake that hit Syria last year.
On his part, Ambassador Kevorkian expressed gratitude for the great honor he received from President Bashar al-Assad.
