YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Levon Ter-Petrossyan left for Strasbourg Thursday to attend the second summit of presidents and prime ministers of member countries of the Council of Europe–which is to be held this weekend.
Ter-Petrossyan has scheduled meetings with the leaders of Romania–Bulgaria–Latvia–Georgia and Azerbaijan at each respective country’s request–and will also attend meetings with the Head of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe–Lenny Fischer.
Ter-Petrossyan is expected to attend a university scientific conference as Honorary Doctor of Natural Sciences of Strasbourg University during his visit as well.
Traveling with Ter-Petrossyan will be Foreign Minister Alexander Arzoumanian–Armenia’s Ambassador to France Vahan Papazian– Chairman of the Parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee Hovhannes Igitian– as well as other top officials.
According to Foreign Ministry sources–Ter-Petrossyan will also meet with French President Jacques Chirac–Senate Speaker Rene Monorie– Premier Lionnel Jospin and Chairman of the National Assembly of France Laurent Fabius.
Ter-Petrossyan will also be conferred an Honorary Doctor degree from the University of Sorbonne during his stay in France.
