MONTEBELLO–More than 450 people gathered to witness the unveiling of the Holy Cross Cathedral Bagramian Hall and newly built Sargisian Family Foyer on Sunday April 6.
At approximately 1:30pm a prayer blessing was lead by Prelate Moushegh Mardirossian and a ribbon was cut by the two sons of Knarik Sargisian-Tufenkjian who the newly built foyer was dedicated in memory of. Minutes later the doors opened to the Bagramian Hall and the Montebello community finally had the chance to see the magnificent and state of the art Banquet hall they have all been waiting for.
Once the large crowd was seated and treated to a traditional Armenian feast, Levon Kirakosian approached the podium to handle the duty of Master of Ceremonies for the afternoon’s event. In his opening remarks, Levon spoke briefly about the Montebello Armenian community and the history of the Cathedral and the fact that the City of Montebello for years features the Holy Cross Cathedral in its marketing pamphlet.
During the short program Board of Trustees member and Chairman of the Renovation Committee Jack Hadjinian thanked and recognized the Dro Gomideh for sponsoring the event, the Committee members along with the Community who collected over $300,000.00 in donations, and the Sargisian Family for their remarkable support. “We hired designer Siran Rousian of Consulting Design Group and contractor Hovsep Boyadjian of Metro Commercial Construction based on their professionalism and reputation in the industry.
The Renovation Project’s final cost is $1,153,000.00 and was complete in just over 12 weeks. Our Board of Trustees and our Committee members are extremely happy with the project’s success.” Jack Hadjinian along with the whole Board of Trustees presented Stepan Altounian with a “Key to the Hall” for his amazing work and dedication to the Renovation Committee. Next a speech was made by Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Hagop Dikranian who elaborated in Armenian about the project and future plans of renovating the Cathedral, Chairman Dr. Dikranian also thanked the Sargisian Family for their financial support and encouraged everyone to get involved in future church activities. During the course of the program a video presentation of the renovation played on four drop down projection screens and pledges were made by the community.
The Banquet Hall facility is available for rent and can be booked by contacting the Cathedral office at 323-727-1113. The Board of Trustees welcomes all to preview the facility.
