YEREVAN (PanArmenian.net)—The Akhuryan railway station on the Armenian-Turkish border at Gyumri will be opened next month, the head of the Russian-owned South Caucasus Railway company (SCR) told a press conference in Yerevan on Wednesday.
“After the ratification of the protocols signed in Zurich between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Turkey, we will conduct a meeting with the Turkish side, after which conditions for railway communication will be clearly worked out,” Shevket Shajdullin said.
“The main task is to enter the corridor of Europe, the Caucasus and Asia in the right way, which would enable Armenia to become part of an international logistics center.” Shajdullin said, adding that about 70 rail cars will be involved in the process to ensure appropriate levels of traffic.
He added that the opening of the border is not just providing a new direction of transportation, but also an opportunity for Armenia to have access to the international arena.
More nonsense… as if Georgia was an unwilling neighbor to help Armenia in the access to the “International arena”. The difference is that with Georgia we wouldn’t be selling our history and insulting our 1.5 million martyrs and giving our ancestral lands with permission to use them. What a sick joke the Armenian “government” has become.
Sammy, did you see what happened to Armenia in August of 2008, because of our overreliance on georgia as a link to the outside world? The only joke is the government in tiflis which because of stupidity and short-sightedness has lost the little political and financial capital it had built since 1991.
