YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Turkey’s newly appointed Ambassador to Azerbaijan Unal Cevikez announced that Turkey will agree to a resolution of the Karabagh conflict only if Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity is protected.
According to the Baku-based 525 Gazet daily–while presenting his credentials–Turkey’s ambassador said that it is impossible to regulate the Armenian-Azerbaijani relations "without restoring the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan." He said that Turkey will continue to support Azerbaijan in Karabakh conflict.
Azerbaijan’s President Heydar Aliyev responded by saying that during the last ten years–the relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey developed in all sectors and will continue to develop in future under the precept "one nation-two countries."
He underlined the fact that the economic relations between the two countries became closer and deeper–which implies the development of political relations. These relations will become an empirical reality with the construction of Baku-Ceyhan oil-pipe line and Baku-Erzerum gas-pipe line.
In his turn–Cevikez said that the Turkish parliament prepared the bill on the Baku-Ceyhan oil-pipe line and the bill will be ratified soon.
