YEREVAN (Armenpress)–According to Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Mesut Ylmaz–Turkey will not participate in the enlargement of European Union by nominating its candidature for membership in 2004 and will fully concentrate on efforts directed to becoming a member of EU in 2007.
In his interview given to Turkish NTV TV channel–Minister Ylmaz said that Ankara is going to start negotiations next year in Brussels in order to achieve that goal. German Franckfuhrter Rundschau newspaper writes that Turkey demanded many times from the representatives of EU to determine the date of negotiations. A visit of the EU representative Gunter Verheugen to Ankara is expected this week.
