ISTANBUL (Marmara)–Turkish State Minister Hikmet Sami Turk said that developing relations with Armenia was out of the question–since the latter aimed at maintaining the Genocide issue on its political agenda.
Turk–who was on a weekend tour of the Kars and Ardahan regions–remarked that opening of the border with Armenia was impossible. He also toured the ancient city of Ani.
"Instead of promoting camaraderie and cooperation between the two countries–Armenia is promoting hatred," accused Turk during his visit to Ardahan.
"It would not be beneficial to any party to revise history and aim to foster a foreign policy based on baseless statemen’s and imaginary facts," concluded Turk referring to Armenia’s policy of garnering international recognition for the Armenian Genocide.
Turk was attending a human rights conference in Kars–sponsored by the upper house of parliament.
