ISTANBUL (Hurriyet Daily News)—The 10th Administrative Court of Istanbul ruled that the ministry had the means to prevent the assassination and ruled for 100,000 Turkish Liras to be given as compensation for the Dink Family. Alongside the compensation, the Dink family will receive 9,700 Liras for court costs.
The decision was given on the grounds that the European Court of Human Rights had sentenced Turkey for that case, among others. Both the police and gendarmerie organizations, which were guilty according to the European court’s decision, answer to the Interior Ministry.
The European court said the defense from the ministry – which had said there was no intelligence indicating a possible murder, no request from the journalist for protection and no threat of “social risk” from any incident – was inappropriate.
Daily Taraf reported on the story Friday; when the Hürriyet Daily News & Economic Review contact Dink Family lawyer Fethiye Çetin, who was quoted in the Taraf story on the issue, she said the story was actually old, adding that the decision was given on Oct. 27, 2010, and was only officially released Jan. 19, 2011.
The story, however, failed to make it to the press until now. Çetin thanked Taraf Editor Markar Eseyan for the top-story status granted to the news.
Dink was the editor in chief of the multilingual weekly Agos but was shot to death Jan. 19, 2007, in front of his newspaper’s building in Istanbul’s central Şişli district. The self-confessed triggerman was apprehended shortly afterwards but the Dink family defense has been arguing that the people who allegedly planned the murder, including high-ranking public officials, have been protected from the beginning.

A little stone from a rocky mountain of sins! My heart beats for everyone suffered by the militarism, nationalism, racisims!
Turkey thinks… via their PLOYs, delays and distractions, over the years, a turkey’s guilts will ‘disappear – thus a turkey will appear ‘clean’ of all their crimes against all humanity. Yet, nearly 100 years since the Armenian’s slaughters, rapes, kidnappings, and marches through the hell of the deserts until their deaths released them from horrors of turk mentality… Thus creating for the Armenian Survivors and all their generations that followed to seek havens in the civilized nations of the world… and to recover and to seek reparations and more!!
Imagine! a turkey chooses still to lie, to profess denials… Worse, even today a turkey continues abusing/bullying the fledgling Armenian nation via protocols, provocations, PLOYs, even insisting that the Armenians had dared to even be able to attempt, at times, to attack turkeys – not recalling the turkeys pursuit to eliminate their victims!
IMAGINE! Instead, today Turks leaderships behave as though, they, the turkeys have rights to demean and abuse Armenians – and too, as if it had been the Armenians who initiated genocideal attacks against the turks… as though INSTEAD it was turkey who had been victims of a Armenian genocide against the turkeys. Conveniently, turkey is unable to recall that they were/are perpetrators against the Greeks, Syrians, Assyrians, Armenians!! Conveniently, a turkey still uses Genocides to keep a turkey for turkeys ONLY.
P.S. During WWI Turkey was attacked from all directions – yet lies, and claims Armenians slaughtered all the Turks!! Armenians slaughtered, dispersed and distraught were unable to ‘eliminate’ the turks – as did turks and conversely, again, turks blame the victims – and too, all other nations who attempt to deal with turk leaders of today – but yet, only in the usual turkish style! Manooshag
$62000 in damages? Pennies for 100 years of crimes against humanity.
Dink’s loss to the Armenian community cannot be measured in dollars. Shame on Turkey and all Turks who are ignorant of their disgraceful country’s crimes.
