BAKU (APA)–The reopening of the Turkish-Armenian border is “not a subject of negotiations, “Turkey’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Hulusi Kilic, told reports in Baku Thursday.
Kilic said the meetings between Armenia and Turkey being held to normalize relations between the two countries “can never damage [Turkey’s] relations with Azerbaijan.”
“Azerbaijan is our soul, heart. We do not want to damage our heart,” he said.
Responding to reporters’ questions as to whether or not the Turkish government would take measures to stop an online petition apologizing to Armenia’s for the events of 1915, Kilic said “70 million people live in Turkey and everybody can say what he or she wants.”
The ambassador was on of 60 diplomats who opposed the campaign in a statement circulated earlier this week.
