BAKU (Armenpress)–Regional security and stability are one of the main aims of Azeri-Turkish cooperation–especially in the energy sector–Trend news agency cited Turkish parliament speaker Bulent Arinc as saying.
"The project of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline–which will be realized in coming months is of strategic importance. After that we will combine our efforts within the frameworks of Baku-Tbilisi-Erzerum gas pipeline project," said Arinc–noting that the importance of this project has increased after recent events highlighting the importance of alternate gas sources.
In connection with Baku-Tbilisi-Akhalkalak-Kars railway project–the Turkish parliament speaker said: "This railway will not only deepen the relations among Turkey–Azerbaijan–and Georgia but it will also make a great contribution to the increase in the volume of cargo transported from Europe to Middle Asia."
Arinc added that he hopes the project will make other regional countries undertake the expected steps for cooperation.
He referred to the "harm the Karabagh conflict has caused to Azerbaijan."
He said–"the occupation of twenty percent of the Azerbaijani territories by Armenia violates the norms of international law."
"Turkey will by all means protect the Azerbaijani position in the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict regulation just like in other issues," said Arinc–pointing out that Ankara is for the regulation of the Karabagh conflict on the basis of Azeri territorial integrity.
