YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Gloria Fernandez was appointed head of the UNICEF Office in Armenia recently. Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian met Thursday with Fernandez and UNICEF Regional Director Boris Tolstopyatov.
While introducing Fernandez to the foreign minister–Tolstopyatov pointed out that she has vast experience in related work–which will promote Armenia-UNICEF relations.
The sides discussed UNICEF’s upcoming activities and its new projects in Armenia. Tolstopyatov reported that UNICEF recently approved a $10 million five-year project for Armenia. The project deals with children’s rights protection–nutrition–parenting and education.
Oskanian congratulated Fernandez on her appointment and wished her success in her work.
