YEREVAN (Armenpress)–By a secret vote of 36 against 20 and 14 abstentions–Armenia’s parliament upheld Vano Siradeghian’s post as a member of parliament.
Siradeghian–a parliament member and former interior minister in ex-president Levon Ter-Petrosian’s administration–fled the country last year after the parliament lifted his immunity allowing the law-enforcement bodies to start his prosecution on charges of masterminding a series of high-profile assassinations in early 1990s.
Since then his whereabouts are not known. Siradeghian has missed 264 votes in parliament sessions which–some deputies claimed–was enough to deprive him of his mandate.
