YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenia’s main mobile operator VivaCell will subsidize the screening of all films shown at this year’s 5th international Golden Apricot Film Festival, the festival’s executive director, Harutyun Khachatrian, told a news conference Wednesday.
Khachatrian said the support of VivaCell, the festival’s main sponsor, has allowed the organizing committee to slash the cost of tickets from 1500 drams to 300 drams ($1). The organizing committee made the move in order to provide more people with the opportunity to attend the festival and watch the films.
According to him, the decision is unprecedented, but the goal this year is to make the viewing of foreign films affordable to as many Armenian cinema goers as possible, especially students and young people involved in art and film.
“I think that experts realize that this is the right way to host a film festival,” he said.
