GLENDALE—Collaborative efforts between the Armenian Revolutionary Federation’s “We Are Gyumri” Campaign and the Armenian Youth Federation are underway in preparation for an upcoming community event to be held on Saturday, October 29 starting at 8 p.m. at the Montebello Armenian Center, located at 410 Washington Blvd., Montebello, CA 90640.
Proceeds from the event, which will feature renowned singer of Armenian patriotic songs Karnig Sarkissian, will benefit the continued operations of the Gyumri Shirvanian Youth Center, which officially opened on July 11, 2016; the AYF Youth Corps program, which runs at the Center during the summer months; as well as the “We Are Gyumri” Campaign’s Scholarship Fund, which annually provides monetary awards to first-year college students, who are residents of the Shirak province, to pursue their undergraduate education in their native region.
Since its grand opening in July 2016, the Gyumri Shirvanian Youth Center is now open year-round and has been bustling with activity as youth and young adults in the area have been utilizing the center to learn English, to hone their computer skills, and to engage in music and dance classes. Given the large number of youth benefiting from programs offered, the Center is fulfilling its promise to serve as a cultural, educational and social site in Gyumri.
The “We Are Gyumri” campaign remains committed to making a long-lasting impact on the youth in Gyumri and awaits the support and backing of the community at large at the upcoming event.
The program will include dinner, as well as captivating updates on the Center’s growth and progress. Tickets are $75 per person. Reduced price tickets in the amount of $25 will be made available to members of the Armenian Youth Federation, Armenian Youth Federation Juniors, and ARF Shant Student Association.
Tickets can be purchased through .itsmyseat.com/Gyumri or by contacting “We Are Gyumri” committee members Annie Ovanessian at (818) 601-2638 or Garine Izmirlian at (213) 216-9301.
