MONTREAL–Western Prelate Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian and Dr. Garo Agopian, the Chairman of the Western Prelacy’s Executive Council were in Montreal Canada last week participating in the meeting of the North American Prelates and Executive Council Chairmen.
The meeting, which began on July 23rd, also included Eastern Prelate Archbishop Oshagan Choloyan, Canadian Prelate Archbishop Khajag Hagopian, Prelate of Canada, Eastern Prelacy Executive Council Chairman Jack Mardoian, and Canada’s Executive Council Chairman Dr. John Arakelian. Executive Council members from the Canadian Prelacy Dr. Garbis Harboyan, Simon Poladian, and Osig Mkhsi-Artinian also participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, the Prelates and Chairmen discussed issues of mutual concern to all three Prelacies such as Christian Education, youth activities, religious publications, the training of deacons and altar servers, the expansion of parishes, the instruction of Armenian subjects in education, inter-Prelacy collaboration, the 50th anniversary of the North American Prelacy of the Catholicosate of Cilicia.
The meeting also discussed the upcoming Ghevontiants clergy conference, ecumenical relations, and matters relating to the General Assembly, which will take place in December.
