YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Russian President Boris Yeltsin sent a telegram of congratulation to his Armenian counterpart Robert Kocharian on the occasion of the 7th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Armenia. Here are excerpts of the telegram:
"Accept my hearty congratulations on the occasion of the 7th anniversary of the Armenian Republic’s Independence Day.
"I am sure that Russia and Armenia–which are linked by a centuries-old friendship and traditions of spiritual communication–will continue to be in close cooperation in the future–deepening cooperation in ensuring regional and international peace–the stability and prosperity of the two nations."
Karabakh’s President Arkady Ghoukassian addressed a telegram to Armenian President Kocharian on behalf of Karabakh’s people and authorities:
"All our successes scored over the past seven years are certainly the result of ensuring national unity whose priority is getting more and more essential in this crucial period of strengthening statehood."
"We wish you every success in creating a free–independent and democratic Homeland."
Syrian President–Khafez al-Assad–President of the United Arab Emirates–Zayed Bin Sultan al-Nakhian–Great Prince Jean of Luxembourg–King Hasan II of Morocco–the Pope–Secretary General of the CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly–Mikhail Krotov and Governor of the Kemerovsk region of Russia–Aman Tuleyev also addressed their best congratulations to the Armenian people.
