YEREVAN (Armenpress/Yerkir)–The regular session of Armenia-US Strategic Dialogue group convened on Thursday–to review their respective relations with CIS and Middle East countries–and to exchange views on the struggle against international terrorism and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
Senior Armenian officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense–as well as the National Security Service–composed the Armenian side–led by Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Tatul Margarian. Aide to the US Undersecretary of State on European affairs Lynn Pasco headed the US team.
Though the session assessed present levels of cooperation between the two countries as satisfactory–they agreed that dialogue between the two must expand.
Pasco met separately with President Robert Kocharian and defense minister Serge Sarkissian to discuss US-Armenia bilateral relations–defense and security cooperation–regional and international developmen’s–cooperation in struggling against terrorism–and regional issues–specifically the Mountainous Karabagh Republic conflict.
