YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenian government officials alongside Catholicos Karekin II Monday presided over the inaugural opening of the Paramaz Avetisian lecture at the American University in Armenia.
The new building, dedicated to the memory of the famous philanthropist, is part of a series of programs aimed at enhancing the university’s educational activities in the Republic.
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, who spoke at the building’s opening ceremony, welcomed the new hall and praised the university for the high level of education it provides students in Armenia.
The American University in Armenia is the only such establishment in the region and must serve as an example for other universities, Sargsyan said.
The new building will allow the university to implement educational programs that meet international standards, according to the University’s dean, Harutyun Armenian.
Agreemen’s have also been reached for the University to open a Macroeconomics department and a video conference hall that will sponsored by Viva Cell.
