YEREVAN (Yerevan News Agency)–Presidential Advisor and Armenian Revolutionary Federation of Armenia Executive Council member Vahan Hovanessian met with German Ambassador to Armenia Carola Mueller-Holtkemperin Thursday.
The German Ambassador presented to the presidential advisor a set of documen’s and plans outlining Germany’s willingness in assisting the development of a decentralized local government system in Armenia. According to Mueller-Holtkemperin these plans were presented to the Armenian government in 1995–and now her government was again ready to offer non-monetary assistance in strengthening the regional–local and municipal governmental structures by making available to the Armenian government expert opinion and methodology in pursuing this goal.
The two sides decided to continue their discussions during the next Armeno-German meeting scheduled for the second half of September. At that point–both sides agreed–the necessary documen’s will be signed to commence any future partnership programs.
On the same day–Hovanessian met with World Bank Economic and Poverty Abolishment Expert Lev Frankman. During the meeting the two side–again–discussed issues of economic and monetary concern as they pertained to the development of local governmental systems. Frankman’suggested to make available to Armenia various plans of budget and structural development devised by the Bank and implemented in various locales of the world–as models of Armenia’s local structural development.
