YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The new school year began in the Nagorno Karabakh Republic on Wednesday. On this occasion the Minister of Science and Education of Karabakh addressed teachers and schoolchildren. He pointed out that even in war-time teachers did not stop working and today they must be the center of attention–as education is the base of any state.
Except for some schools in rural areas–most schools in Karabakh are fully staffed and have sufficient text-books. Text-books will be leased out to schoolchildren at lower prices. Although many schools still need repairs–the authorities and school boards have everything possible to provide adequate conditions for lessons.
