Montreal Armenians Mark 50th Anniversary of Local Church

Dr. Vagharch Ehramdjian, receiving the honour of Prince of Cilicia

MONTREAL–Under the Auspices of Canadian Prelate Archbishop Khajag Hagopian, a gala banquet celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Sourp Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church was held on Saturday at the Montreal Armenian Community Center.

On this special occasion and by the request of Prelate Hagopian and Prelacy Executive Council, His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of Great House of Cilicia bestowed the “Prince of Cilicia” medal to Dr. Vagharch Ehramdjian, and “Knight of Cilicia” medals to Krikor Kouyoumdjian and Varoujan Seropian, as well as the “Mesrob Mashdots” medal to Vrej-Armen Artinian.

During the celebration, Archbishop Hagopian presented Haig-Aram Arakelian, Serko Boyadjian, Bedros Kaprielian and Haig Markarian with the “Hovhan Mantagouni” medal for their devotion and commitment to the Armenian church and their community.

Mr. & Mrs. Haig and Anahid Markarian presided over the event, which was organized by Sourp Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church Board of Trustees. Looking towards the future, the special commemoration’s message and goal is to surpass past achievemen’s.
